    Dressing up the Christmas tree

Dressing up the Christmas tree | Elodie Details - The Christmas holiday is perfect for arts and crafts, and the list of creative things that you can do is endless. Decorating the Christmas tree is an annual highlight for many little kids (and their parents) and marks the start of the holiday celebrations. It’s a great way to involve the children in Christmas preparations, and they usually love to help. We’ve gathered four tips on how to make your Christmas tree the prettiest one in the neighbourhood. #1 Get your lighting right — Start from the top of the tree and work your way down, weaving them around each major branch. Make sure you place them evenly throughout the entire tree. #2 Choose a colour scheme — By choosing a matching colour scheme, your decorations will look lovely and well thought out. You can even pick up the different colours when decorating the rest of your home to get a cohesive and elegant impression. #3 Get creative with the garlands — There are plenty of different garland to choose from. You can go classic with ribbon and foil, but if you want to be a little more creative, put popcorn on a string or even dried cranberries and sliced citrus fruits. That, we promise, is fun DIY.  #4 Stand out ornaments — The final and most fun part are the ornaments. Start with plain-coloured baubles as a base and continue adding more decorative ones after that. And here’s another opportunity to be creative — you can DIY by picking pine cones and painting them. Remember to paint with colours that are non-toxic. You never know when your little one wants to take a bite.   SHOP THE LOOK

Music is heard from every corner and square, and the Christmas lights bring a warm, fuzzy feeling. The season also invites us into the kitchen, to try out new delicious Christmas recipes. So, put on the carols, pick up the apron and let the children participate. We have found a recipe that both adults and children will love — Christmas cake pops. Start baking and let your imagination run wild when it's time to decorate. Ingredients: 500 grams soft gingerbread 150 grams of Philadelphia, or other natural cream cheese 300 grams white or dark chocolate Accessories: Lollipop sticks or straws Sprinkles (you can even crush sweets like candy canes to make sprinkles)   Method: 1. Process the gingerbread into fine crumbs in a blender or food processor, in batches if necessary. 2. Stir the gingerbread crumbs together with the cream cheese. 3. Form the mixture into balls of your prefered size and let set in the fridge for 30 minutes. 4. Melt the chocolate. 5. Stick your sticks or straws into your cake pop balls and carefully dip them in the melted chocolate. 6. Decorate with sprinkles. 7. Place the cake pops on a plate so that they are not touching, or put the sticks into a bit of Styrofoam or similar so they are standing up. Let them set in the fridge. Enjoy!
