Lire davantage...We got inspired – The iconic Aviator jacket | Elodie Details - The unique Aviator jacket is a fashion item that never seem to go out of style. For our Autumn/Winter collection Le Petit Parisien, we got inspired by the look with its edgy mix of leather and shearling. We talked to our designer Carina Frank about the history of the garment and the process behind integrating the inspiration into our new collection. There is a historic quality to the leather shearling jacket. Shearling per say has helped people keep warm for ages – but it was in the 1930’s the aviator jacket came about. American pilots wore the iconic jackets to the skies, and in the 50’s the jacket made its transition from military to civilian use. The trend took off within the world of fashion during the 60’s and yet today most design houses has a version of their own. Since the Aviator jacket is quite rebellious in its style, we had a process of evaluating how to incorporate the look into gentle baby products. We decided to maintain the attitude by keeping details such as buckles and zippers – you can find the classic lapel that is a key aspect of the jacket on our Aviator Black footmuff. Another detail that we are proud of is the choice of material for the outer fabric, where we decided on using high quality, cruelty-free vegan leather. Read more about what vegan leather is and why it belongs in your closet here. The shearling was a must to keep since it provides the softest and cosiest lining in our Aviator Black footmuff, cap and mittens. SHOP THE LOOK

Not the most sustainable idea for brands, and definitely not something that benefits our environment. At the core of Elodie’s sustainability philosophy lies the concept of Buy Less, so we’ve decided not to be a part of this anymore. We want the opposite. We want high quality, long life and second-hand value to be the deciding factors when you’re making your consumer choices. Don’t throw anything away, scroll down to find tips and links that help you in joining our mission to prolong the life of your cherished baby products. SECOND-HAND TREASURES We encourage second-hand buying and selling to slow down the pace in which we consume. Every product should have the potential for a second life after its original purpose has been fulfilled. When your little one is grown, the changing bag can be used as a gym bag, office bag or weekend bag. She shares creative DIY and upcycling projects on her Instagram channel @rock.my.day, with the mission to prolong the lifespan of treasured possessions and give them a second life when their original purpose is fulfilled. She has created a DIY guide on how to make Elodie baby blankets into pillows — an inventive way to spare the planets resources by upcycling. Here we go! You need: Baby blanket Pillow Pins Zippers Push buttons or Velcro points Sewing machine Scissors MUSLIN BLANKET TO PILLOW For this style made with a muslin blanket, we recommend making a pillow with the dimensions of 38 x 38 cm, so you can easily create an edging. Firstly, place the long side seams onto each other and topstitch with overhang. Then close one of the open sides and sew the seam. Now adjust your work to the length of the pillow and fold over the edges of the open side by 2 centimetres. Turn the work outside in and attach the zipper with the help of pins. If the zipper is shorter than the pillow side, pin the open ends and sew it up. Finally, insert the pillow in the finished cover and enjoy your new pillow! KNITTED BLANKET TO PILLOW Cushions that measures 35 x 35 cm and 40 x 40 cm are particularly suitable for the knitted baby blankets. You don’t even need a zipper or snaps thanks to the overlap. Lay one end of the blanket over the other, according to the cushion dimensions. Then mark the cushion dimensions at the two open ends and cut them accordingly. Close both sides with the straight stitch of the sewing machine and stich the edges precisely to prevent the knitting stitches from coming off. Then put the pillow in the cover and you have made yourself a new pillow! SHOP THE LOOK

Together they create beautiful portraits of preparing for parenthood on their much-appreciated Instagram channels. In timing with Scandinavian Father’s Day, we sat down with Rune to get his views on becoming a father. Your little one is expected any day now, how are you preparing for fatherhood? That’s a good question. Who you are as a dad is very individual, and I don’t think that you can really prepare for that in advance. As this is our firstborn, we are right now trying to get everything into place, from the baby room to clothes and picking out a stroller, the list goes on. It would probably be a good idea to pick up a parenting book, but I haven’t gotten to that yet. What was your first thought when you found out that you were going to be a dad? I was very happy, as we have been wanting to have a baby for a little while now. What are you most excited about? I know that this can sound bad, as you should cherish every moment, but I can’t wait for him (yes, it’s a boy!) to start crawling and walking. And it will be so much fun when we can play sports together. Is there something from your own childhood that you will try to bring into your newly started family? I think that all of us pick up small traits from our parents and things they taught us growing up. There's nothing special that comes to mind, but I think it's subconscious. What are your favourite products from Elodie? My favourite must be Fluffy Frank – what a cute little guy! Especially since baby essentials like socks, washcloths and diapers are quite tiny and difficult to keep track of. To help you get organized, we’ve embraced Marie Kondo’s method and gathered some tips and tricks to share. Just note, it’s going to get worse before it gets better. Let’s get started! #1 CATEGORIZE Select a category. It could be clothes, toys or anything that needs a refresh. Start by pulling everything out of its drawers and boxes and place it all on your bed or even on the floor. The trick is then to come up with new pairings and sort the items in a helpful way. It could be by size or colour — anything that makes sense and minimizes your time spent looking for lost treasures. It’s a quite simple trick, but it works like magic. In the end your baby’s drawer will be a true work of art. #2 MAKE PLACE Every item you own needs a dedicated place where it’s always stored. It’s a slippery slope when you start buying new things without giving them a proper home, and we all know that feeling of an over-cluttered baby nest. Keep it simple and prioritize — place all things used daily somewhere easily accessible, and the stuff that’s used less often can be stored a bit more inaccessible. #3 TIDY ALL AT ONCE Tidying bits and pieces here and there can make a slight difference, but it will get messy again in a minute. If your goal is to maintain a peaceful baby room, the best thing is to organize an entire room or closet in one go — taking the time to arrange and only keep what you genuinely need. Having some trouble getting rid of things? Try Marie Kondo’s trick of asking yourself if the item spark joy?If the answer is no, you might want to consider letting it go. To help you stay organized, Marie advises you to have joyful boxes — and we couldn’t agree more. All the small and adorable baby things deserve to be placed in boxes that just feel joyous. Luckily our home range fits perfectly with Marie's vision for organizing. SHOP OUR FAVOURITES
