  • Snapshots with Emilia Schöller in Berlin

Snapshots with Emilia Schöller in Berlin | Elodie Details - Emilia Schöller is the content creator behind Instagram account @_pommegranate, where she shares inspirational moments from her life as a mother to her two-year-old baby girl T. She lives in Berlin with her family and has captured some snapshots from her favourite city, accompanied by her new Elodie MONDO Stroller in the pattern Sandy Stripe.  Tell us about yourself? I am a happy mother and wife, trying to balance my creative side on Instagram during my daughter’s nap time. It’s not always easy, but I am enjoying this precious time. I’m also a physical therapist, but I decided to put that on hold after I got pregnant. We live in Berlin right now, far away from our families and friends spread across three countries, but we always make sure to facetime and visit each other as much as possible. Although I did not learn photography in school, I can say that I am a self-taught photographer, passionate about light and angles. At the moment, my biggest inspiration and motivation is my daughter, who makes me rediscover the joy in the most unexpected ways. What do you love about Berlin? Berlin is one of the coolest cities I know. It’s diverse, full of life, and has so much to offer in terms of food, parks, history, street art and unique vintage stores. I especially love the summertime in Berlin, when the city comes alive and you can eat outside, go on boat rides or have a drink on a hipster rooftop while watching the sun go down. There is something special about those late, beautiful sunsets. Name a favourite family activity in Berlin? Berlin offers a diverse range of green spaces. We love to go for walks outside and discover new places. We also enjoy coffee stops at our favourite coffee shop, and our daughter T adores brunches and being around people. What is your favourite feature on Elodie MONDO Stroller?  I love its unique design and the fact that it’s so lightweight and compact, which makes it perfect for city life as it’s very smooth to drive.  Since we travel a lot, I think that it’s perfect for carrying with you and folds in a minute. I do not even want to know how moms used to travel back in the days – I am just thankful for brands like Elodie making our lives easier.  Follow Emilia on her Instagram account @_pommegranate to get more inspiration!    SHOP THE LOOK

With 25 K Instagram followers, she inspires many with her edgy yet feminine style, and we got some snapshots of Florine and her family out and about with the new Elodie MONDO Stroller.  What do you love most about your city? We just moved to a new place right by the beach, which is quite hard to beat. I truly love our new house with an airy feel, and the neighbourhood is relaxed and filled with greenery. Name a favourite family activity? When we are in Amsterdam, we love to visit the museums – WONDR Experience is fun with kids, and the Moco Museum is excellent. At Westergasterras, there is plenty of space for the children to play, and even a kids’ farm. Pllek is a sort of beach that we enjoy going to, and Café Restaurant Amsterdam is a must for dinner or lunch. And do not miss a visit to The Archive Store if you’re there – they have the most beautiful kids’ stuff, furniture, books and toys. What is your favourite thing about Elodie MONDO Stroller? I adore the button on the handle that you push to make the stroller fold into travel size in no time. And the stroller is lightweight, which is one of the essential features, in my opinion. Hana took to the streets of Paris with the new Elodie MONDO Stroller in the colour Moonshell, and shared some of her favourite spots in the city of lights.  What made you fall in love with Paris? Paris for me represents a new beginning, full of possibilities. I adore the French cuisine, and through my work I get to meet many talented Chefs – and if I’m lucky I even get a taste of their delicious dishes. This city makes me feel free and full of dreams, the sky is the limit if you work toward your goals. And not to forget, Paris has the most incredible light, nothing beats a sunset overlooking the Eiffel Tower. Do you have any favourite family activities in Paris? There are so many lovely parks in Paris, and we love spending all our spare time together in either Jardin des Tuileries, Jardin du Palais Royal or Place des Vosges. Our friends have babies too, so we often hang out with them and do picnics nearly every weekend in the warmer summer months. Which feature do you like the most in Elodie MONDO Stroller? • Preparing for Arrival

Preparing for Arrival | Elodie Details - Awaiting the arrival of a long-awaited family member is a time of anticipation, longing and maybe even a bit of nerves setting in. Coming home with a brand new little human being is a lifechanging moment, and if you have some extra time before the due date it can be a good idea to make a few preparations in advance. We’ve listed three easy tips that do wonders during the first weeks with a newborn. HAVE MEALS PREPPED IN THE FREEZER As cosy and magical as it is, life with a newborn can be a bit challenging. You won’t have the same time to cook and take care of yourself as before since the baby needs around the clock attention. Try to freeze portions of food before the baby arrives, and enjoy not having to think too much when you’ve just become a parent. PLACE A BLINKIE IN YOUR BED Your baby is brand new to this world when coming home for the first time. In the first couple of weeks the baby needs the feeling of home and security, and it can be clever to help your little treasure along. Place a Blinkie or blanket in your own bed some time before your baby’s arrival to make sure it smells like you and brings a feeling of safety for your newborn. WASH THE BEDDING SETS Little babies are so delicate, and their skin can be quite sensitive, so make sure you wash their bedding sets with perfume free laundry detergent before introducing your baby to sleep there. It will remove potential dirt and scent from the sheets, making them nice and kind towards you baby’s skin.   SHOP BABY ACCESSORIES

  • At home with Eileen von Berckefeldt

At home with Eileen von Berckefeldt | Elodie Details - Eileen von Berckefeldt is a mother of two wonderful and lively kids – Lola and Levi. Always with a new project right around the corner, she runs her own boutique focused on hand-made items alongside her work as a photographer. And when she finds the time she is just as dedicated to her gorgeous 70’s bungalow in Hannover where the family of four lives. We stopped by to have a peek inside her kids’ rooms and get inspired by her casual yet elegant style. How would you describe your interior design philosophy? Stick to the classics, I’d say. I love a touch of Scandinavian, mixed with a bohemian vibe and modern elements. Parts of our house need renovation, and I will try to make the original style of our house come to life. We live in a 70’s bungalow with a built-in atrium – a pretty rare style nowadays and to be honest, I love it. Tell us about a memory that you keep close to your heart? I will always cherish the moments when I gave birth to my children and first felt their skin on mine. In my everyday life it’s the simple moments when everyone’s just happy that makes me smile. I always try to remember those simple occasions of day-to-day life, like when you’re all together in bed reading book after book. That’s real love and I couldn’t be more thankful for it. How has motherhood changed you? Becoming a mother basically sped up time, and at times it feels like the world around me is just flying by. It made me mature, and being pushed to your limits over and over has helped me to grow beyond myself. I guess that’s what kids do. But most importantly they’ve taught me to differentiate the important from the unimportant – and the meaning of real love. What are the essentials in your kids’ rooms? One of the most essential and underrated pieces in kids’ rooms are cosy carpets. It fulfils the whole composition and without it, there’s just something missing. Other than that, I think that beautiful, stand-out furniture create a personal note and can add that little extra highlight to a room. What are your favourite items from Elodie? Without a doubt the Play Mats. Not only are they really good looking, but they’re super comfy and cosy to play on. The StoreMyStuff is another favourite – I can’t begin to tell you how great these are as my kids can now clean up their rooms by themselves. Last but not least, the Bibs are one of those essentials that really brightens your day. They’re beautiful, easy to clean and every time someone sees one of mine, they want it.   Go follow Eileen on her Instagram account @eileenvonberckefeldt to get more inspiration! SHOP THE LOOK

  • At home with Mathilde Merlin

At home with Mathilde Merlin | Elodie Details - Mathilde Merlin is a French Influencer and freelance Community Manager who lives in Lille, France with her family of two sweet boys and their father. Her home is as beautiful as it is inspirational, with a charming mix of old and new, and that lovely vintage vibe throughout. We visited Mathilde in her home to get a closer look at her interior decor and kid’s room. How has your life changed since becoming a mother? My life has changed entirely since having kids. They are my number one priority and I’ve launched my own company to manage my schedule and be able to spend as much time as possible with them. It’s an exhausting, but happy life. Motherhood was truly a big turn for my life as a woman. When do the kids drive you crazy? My youngest one is only one month old, so I’m still in the honeymoon phase with him. But it’s quite the challenge to rock him while playing with my oldest, or dealing with crying and trying to work at the same time. I often find myself wishing for another pair of arms. How would you describe your home? My home is a happy mix and match of different styles. I mainly own vintage and antique stuff, my grandparents were the owners of an antique shop and their passion was such a big source of inspiration for my interior design. I like to think that it's a happy house with lots of art, laughter and fun! What feeling did you want to create in the kids’ room? I wanted to create a safe space for my kids to play and grow in. I took my time to thrift shop in flea markets for their beds, drawers, and toy chest. I love rattan so much, and I’m also very fond of their panoramic wallpaper – a reminder of nature and holidays abroad in their room. So, the rest of the accessories are usually pretty neutral with matching tones. Which items can't you live without in the baby nursery? I can't live without practical storage around the room, since the boys have so many toys. As they share a room, I’m looking for harmony and unity to get a tidier feel. And I love matching their bedding and accessories. Which are your three favourite pieces from Elodie's nursery collection? I’m very fond of the comfy Play Mat for the boys to play and cuddle together on. The Zip &Go and the StoreMyStuff are very practical, moreover the prints are truly lovely!   Go follow Mathilde on her Instagram account @maisonmathusalem to see more of her beautiful home!   SHOP THE LOOK

  • At home with Angelica Svanström

At home with Angelica Svanström | Elodie Details - Angelica Svanström is a creative genius, influencer, photographer and filmmaker that portrays her surroundings in a magical way. She recently became a mother to little Lova, and we got invited into her beautiful home on the countryside, to have a peek inside her baby nursery and talk motherhood. Tell us about yourself? My name is Angelica and I’m a mother of one little angel, Lova. Tom is the love of my life and we live together on the countryside where we’re planning to grow our family for a while or maybe stay forever. Who knows? I work as a freelance photographer and influencer. I live by passion for creativity and love spending time with family and friends.  What feeling did you want to create in the baby room? I love the antique look with a touch of romance. I want it to be cosy and magical. I want her to feel like a princess in her little castle. Where she can play as much as she wants.  Which are your most treasured items in the baby nursery? My favourite piece is definitely the Clothing Rack from Elodie! I hang every piece I can find from the floor on it and it looks gorgeous. And it keeps the baby nursery super neat.  How would you describe your style, and has it changed since giving birth? I have always lived by feeling. If I feel for a crazy skirt I put in on. Sometimes I wear just a causal black outfit and the other day I go all in on that summer boho free sprite style. You never know how I will enter the party. What has surprised you most by becoming a parent? Nothing has really surprised me, although everything is thousands of times better than I could ever imagine. Something I wasn’t really prepared for was the constant worrying, I mean I can’t even imagine letting her go to school on her own, or even go to the playground. I was afraid of death before Lova, now I’m terrified. I wish I could keep her safe in my arms forever so nothing bad would ever happen to her. But that’s impossible cause I also want her to run free. Ouch. It hurts. I can finally understand why my mother was so annoying back in the days and why she still calls me 10 times a day.  As a creative person, where does your inspiration comes from? Most of my inspiration comes from within, from life experiences, from magazines, Pinterest and social media.  How do you balance your work life with being a mother? I just do it even if it’s hard sometimes. It’s so fun and I have too much energy and inspiration to just wait. Life is happening right in this moment and we have the best, loving family around helping us.  Which are your three favourites from Elodie’s Home collection? My favourites are the Zip&Go, the Play Mat and the Clothing Rack from House of Elodie! Go follow Angelica on her Instagram account @angelickpicture to see more of her beautiful work!   SHOP THE LOOK

  • Weaves of Kindness

Weaves of Kindness | Elodie Details - “In a world where you can be anything, be kind.” Let us introduce our Spring/Summer 2020 collection – Weaves of Kindness. This little quote is a favourite of ours and we’ve kept it as a guiding star throughout the whole process of creating the collection. We believe that kindness is never wasted, and you will find it in every corner of the world. People act kindly towards each other every day. It is without a doubt our most important quality as humans. Kindness is our superpower!   Kindness creates the threads of which we weave relationships and even entire communities. Many of the fabrics in our new collection are also weaved, but of yarn-dyed threads of linen and softest cotton. We’ve been looking for an authentic texture and a sand-washed feeling that the desert sun can create. The earthy inspiration in the patterns emphasize this look, and we bind it together with frequent use of frays, tassels and brown leather. The colour base ranges from chocolate brown through sand and vanilla to arrive at bleached and burnt tones of blue and pink. For this collection we are welcoming the new Cellular Blanket and a classically shaped Baby Bonnet.   Explore the entire collection     SHOP THE LOOK

  • Dressing up the Christmas tree

Dressing up the Christmas tree | Elodie Details - The Christmas holiday is perfect for arts and crafts, and the list of creative things that you can do is endless. Decorating the Christmas tree is an annual highlight for many little kids (and their parents) and marks the start of the holiday celebrations. It’s a great way to involve the children in Christmas preparations, and they usually love to help. We’ve gathered four tips on how to make your Christmas tree the prettiest one in the neighbourhood. #1 Get your lighting right — Start from the top of the tree and work your way down, weaving them around each major branch. Make sure you place them evenly throughout the entire tree. #2 Choose a colour scheme — By choosing a matching colour scheme, your decorations will look lovely and well thought out. You can even pick up the different colours when decorating the rest of your home to get a cohesive and elegant impression. #3 Get creative with the garlands — There are plenty of different garland to choose from. You can go classic with ribbon and foil, but if you want to be a little more creative, put popcorn on a string or even dried cranberries and sliced citrus fruits. That, we promise, is fun DIY.  #4 Stand out ornaments — The final and most fun part are the ornaments. Start with plain-coloured baubles as a base and continue adding more decorative ones after that. And here’s another opportunity to be creative — you can DIY by picking pine cones and painting them. Remember to paint with colours that are non-toxic. You never know when your little one wants to take a bite.   SHOP THE LOOK

  • Making Black Friday Sustainable Friday

Making Black Friday Sustainable Friday | Elodie Details - The most intense shopping weekend of the year is upon us. Not the most sustainable idea for brands, and definitely not something that benefits our environment. At the core of Elodie’s sustainability philosophy lies the concept of Buy Less, so we’ve decided not to be a part of this anymore. We want the opposite. We want high quality, long life and second-hand value to be the deciding factors when you’re making your consumer choices. We want you to upcycle Elodie products and find new uses for them once they’ve fulfilled their initial purpose. Don’t throw anything away, scroll down to find tips and links that help you in joining our mission to prolong the life of your cherished baby products. SECOND-HAND TREASURES We encourage second-hand buying and selling to slow down the pace in which we consume. Here is a list of great second-hand websites and stores where you can find vintage Elodie:   UPCYCLING – GIVE OUR PRODUCTS A SECOND LIFE Multi-functionality is central to our design and development process. Every product should have the potential for a second life after its original purpose has been fulfilled. When your little one is grown, the changing bag can be used as a gym bag, office bag or weekend bag.   The Zip&Go The Zip&Go is our version of a vanity bag, designed to fit nappies, diapers and wet wipes. • Upcycle your baby blankets to pillows

Upcycle your baby blankets to pillows | Elodie Details - Ann-Kathrin Stade has a deep passion for sustainable choices and a mindful approach to our precious environment and resources. She shares creative DIY and upcycling projects on her Instagram channel @rock.my.day, with the mission to prolong the lifespan of treasured possessions and give them a second life when their original purpose is fulfilled. She has created a DIY guide on how to make Elodie baby blankets into pillows — an inventive way to spare the planets resources by upcycling. Here we go! You need:  Baby blanket Pillow Pins Zippers Push buttons or Velcro points  Sewing machine Scissors    MUSLIN BLANKET TO PILLOW For this style made with a muslin blanket, we recommend making a pillow with the dimensions of 38 x 38 cm, so you can easily create an edging. Firstly, place the long side seams onto each other and topstitch with overhang. Then close one of the open sides and sew the seam. Now adjust your work to the length of the pillow and fold over the edges of the open side by 2 centimetres. Turn the work outside in and attach the zipper with the help of pins. If the zipper is shorter than the pillow side, pin the open ends and sew it up. Finally, insert the pillow in the finished cover and enjoy your new pillow!   KNITTED BLANKET TO PILLOW Cushions that measures 35 x 35 cm and 40 x 40 cm are particularly suitable for the knitted baby blankets. You don’t even need a zipper or snaps thanks to the overlap. Lay one end of the blanket over the other, according to the cushion dimensions. Then mark the cushion dimensions at the two open ends and cut them accordingly.  Close both sides with the straight stitch of the sewing machine and stich the edges precisely to prevent the knitting stitches from coming off. Then put the pillow in the cover and you have made yourself a new pillow!   SHOP THE LOOK

  • Highlighting Dad

Highlighting Dad | Elodie Details - Norwegian model and photographer Rune Erlend lives in Helsinki with his wife and soon-to-be mother Johanna Sofia. Together they create beautiful portraits of preparing for parenthood on their much-appreciated Instagram channels. In timing with Scandinavian Father’s Day, we sat down with Rune to get his views on becoming a father. Your little one is expected any day now, how are you preparing for fatherhood? That’s a good question. Who you are as a dad is very individual, and I don’t think that you can really prepare for that in advance. As this is our firstborn, we are right now trying to get everything into place, from the baby room to clothes and picking out a stroller, the list goes on. It would probably be a good idea to pick up a parenting book, but I haven’t gotten to that yet. What was your first thought when you found out that you were going to be a dad? I was very happy, as we have been wanting to have a baby for a little while now. What are you most excited about? I know that this can sound bad, as you should cherish every moment, but I can’t wait for him (yes, it’s a boy!) to start crawling and walking. And it will be so much fun when we can play sports together. Is there something from your own childhood that you will try to bring into your newly started family? I think that all of us pick up small traits from our parents and things they taught us growing up. There's nothing special that comes to mind, but I think it's subconscious. What are your favourite products from Elodie? My favourite must be Fluffy Frank – what a cute little guy!   Keep up with Rune’s and Johanna’s future family on Instagram: @runeerlend @johannasofia   SHOP THE LOOK

  • Get organized, Marie Kondo-style

Get organized, Marie Kondo-style | Elodie Details - We all have a vision of a nice and tidy baby nest — but it can be a struggle to get there, or even know where to start. Especially since baby essentials like socks, washcloths and diapers are quite tiny and difficult to keep track of. To help you get organized, we’ve embraced Marie Kondo’s method and gathered some tips and tricks to share.  Just note, it’s going to get worse before it gets better. Let’s get started!   #1 CATEGORIZE Select a category. It could be clothes, toys or anything that needs a refresh. Start by pulling everything out of its drawers and boxes and place it all on your bed or even on the floor. The trick is then to come up with new pairings and sort the items in a helpful way. It could be by size or colour — anything that makes sense and minimizes your time spent looking for lost treasures. It’s a quite simple trick, but it works like magic. In the end your baby’s drawer will be a true work of art. #2 MAKE PLACE Every item you own needs a dedicated place where it’s always stored. It’s a slippery slope when you start buying new things without giving them a proper home, and we all know that feeling of an over-cluttered baby nest. Keep it simple and prioritize — place all things used daily somewhere easily accessible, and the stuff that’s used less often can be stored a bit more inaccessible. #3 TIDY ALL AT ONCE Tidying bits and pieces here and there can make a slight difference, but it will get messy again in a minute. If your goal is to maintain a peaceful baby room, the best thing is to organize an entire room or closet in one go — taking the time to arrange and only keep what you genuinely need. • We got inspired – The iconic Aviator jacket

We got inspired – The iconic Aviator jacket | Elodie Details - The unique Aviator jacket is a fashion item that never seem to go out of style. For our Autumn/Winter collection Le Petit Parisien, we got inspired by the look with its edgy mix of leather and shearling. We talked to our designer Carina Frank about the history of the garment and the process behind integrating the inspiration into our new collection. There is a historic quality to the leather shearling jacket. Shearling per say has helped people keep warm for ages – but it was in the 1930’s the aviator jacket came about. American pilots wore the iconic jackets to the skies, and in the 50’s the jacket made its transition from military to civilian use. The trend took off within the world of fashion during the 60’s and yet today most design houses has a version of their own. Since the Aviator jacket is quite rebellious in its style, we had a process of evaluating how to incorporate the look into gentle baby products. We decided to maintain the attitude by keeping details such as buckles and zippers – you can find the classic lapel that is a key aspect of the jacket on our Aviator Black footmuff. Another detail that we are proud of is the choice of material for the outer fabric, where we decided on using high quality, cruelty-free vegan leather. Read more about what vegan leather is and why it belongs in your closet here. The shearling was a must to keep since it provides the softest and cosiest lining in our Aviator Black footmuff, cap and mittens.   SHOP THE LOOK

  • Why does vegan leather belong in your closet?

Why does vegan leather belong in your closet? | Elodie Details - The short answer is that it looks good, is cruelty-free and climate friendly. We chose to work with vegan leather to create our new Aviator inspired series from the Autumn/Winter collection Le Petit Parisien. Let’s talk for a bit about what vegan leather is and why is belongs in our closet. Vegan leather is a versatile material that is increasing in popularity, and frequently being used by designers globally. Praised for being a sustainable choice, it is utilized to achieve an authentic leather look in an ethical manner. The material is often made of polyurethane, a polymer that can be made to order in a variety of forms. It can also be produced from innovative or organic materials such as pineapple leaves, cork, apple peels, fruit waste and recycled plastic bottles. • We got inspired – Art Noveau

We got inspired – Art Noveau | Elodie Details - September 19, 2019 For our Autumn/Winter collection Le Petit Parisien we got inspired by the beauty of Art Noveau. The artform is characterised by its unique natural forms and structures, and particularly curved lines with plants and flowers. The style hit its peak in popularity during the turn of the last century and permeates the Parisian atmosphere in both art and architecture. The characteristic flowing and organic illustrations of Art Noveau inspired the main pattern of our latest collection – Vintage Flower. The pattern is drawn by hand by our designer Carina Frank. The vintage flower print can be found on a range of products, from our footmuff and overall to caps, mittens and the BackPack MINI™. The colours of the flowers are not random – all the main shades of the season are in there, to connect the different aspects of the collection. Another key product to this theme is the new Pearl Velvet Blanket (available in vanilla white and mineral green) that drew inspiration from the classical frameworks found in old vintage posters.   SHOP THE LOOK

  • The winter gear guide

The winter gear guide | Elodie Details - September 11, 2019 Whether you’re a fan of winter or not, you are going to be leaving the house at some point. Maybe just to stretch your legs a little, refill the diaper stash or to proudly show off your little miracle. A little fresh air is great for your baby’s health. So, practical winter baby gear will be needed at this time of year – and it doesn’t hurt if it’s stylish. Over the years, we have learned quite a bit about footmuffs. As we have created and refined different models, we now have four kinds in stock. They are all compatible with most standard strollers and are easy maintenance, so you can wash them in the machine and tumble dry with no problems. Let us tell you a little more about each one so you can get the most suitable for your needs. BABY OVERALL For your baby’s first year – Transform into footmuff – Smooth in-/outdoor transitions The Baby Overall is perfect for your baby’s first months. The thin yet warm material is great for transitions between indoor and outdoor. Whether you’re at the store or away on vacation this practical overall gives you easy access for diaper changes anywhere. The double zippers make it possible to open the Baby Overall up all the way. Using zippers at the bottom you can quickly convert it from a slightly more restricting overall, to a free-kickin’ footmuff. Babies do like to use their legs whenever they can.    CLASSIC FOOTMUFF 0 to 3 years – Wind and water resistant – Many colours and styles Footmuffs are a good choice since any baby dislike being stuffed into clothing with sleeves, as it restricts movement. Getting a baby into a snowsuit is an unnecessary trial. The size should last from newborn up to three years of age. With babies growing into kids at high speed a high quality, large enough footmuff will be a good choice for your wallet. With contemporary style and attention to all the small but important details, these exclusive footmuffs have become a favorite for many design-minded parents. The outer fabric is wind- and water resistant with Bionic Finish RUDOLF® which makes it perfect on cold winter days, when the need to stay warm and cozy is so important. If you need to reduce heat you can quickly open the zippers on both ends, or remove the top all together. NEW - CLASSIC FOOTMUFF 0-3 years – Front zipper – Latest collection We have launched a new version of the classic footmuff for our latest collection Le Petit Parisien A/W 19 that is both trendy and comfortable. It has a front zipper that opens all the way and the outer fabric protects your baby from light wind and rainfall. It comes two colors: Aviator Black and French Check. The Aviator Black Footmuff has a unique footmuff design that is inspired by the iconic fashion item called “the aviator jacket”. The outside is made of cruelty-free vegan leather, and both has a lining made of the softest shearling for your baby to cuddle up in. LIGHTWEIGHT DOWN FOOTMUFF 0-3 years – Smooth when travelling – Down and feather fillling The down footmuff is perfect on-the-go as it is fluffy and voluminous when needed, but packs down to a tiny size when not needed. This in an ultimate choice for comfort and warmth for your baby. The down and feather filling drapes itself and surrounds your baby with warmth.   SHOP THE LOOK

  • Le Petit Parisien

Le Petit Parisien | Elodie Details - August 22, 2019 We are happy to announce the 2019 Autumn/Winter collection - “Le Petit Parisien”. This collection takes aim at the distinctive yet carefree look known as “Parisian Style”. Where dressy and casual elements meet to create combinations that are both expressive and understated at the same time. The contrasts between romantic and tough, between conscious and almost nonchalant are what we find so irresistible in the streets of Paris. Art Noveaue inspired motifs, knitted bonnets and berets, details of black leather and shearling transport you back to a not so distant past, when Paris was a place where the rebellious met the bourgeoisie. “Faded Rose” and “Rebel Green” tones intermingle with the soothing “Moonshell” and “Lily White”, accented by sprinkles of gold and “Juniper Blue”. Playful poodles and Glen Check patterns appear along-side vintage florals, making it easy for you to create your own Parisian Style – Pas de problem! Because like Audrey Hepburn famously said; “Paris is always a good idea”.   SHOP THE LOOK

  • Now live – New logotype

Now live – New logotype | Elodie Details - August 22, 2019 Shortly after her daughter Elodie was born, Linda Sätterström designed her first pacifier clip. Gradually she got the idea of starting a business. Elodie Details was founded in 2005 and has since then grown into a beloved baby accessory brand for family homes in 45 countries worldwide. To reflect the growth, we’re launching a new brand logotype and webpage – live as of August 22nd! AN EMOTIONAL DECISION The new logotype is inspired by the looks of a pacifier clip, the very first product produced by Linda. The rounded shape that holds the pacifier is what gave us the letter “o” in Elodie. Linda explains: “That the detail is important to us, because it means we carry our heritage with us into this new era.” Founder and Creative Director, Linda, is excited for the company’s future and gets quite nostalgic when remembering the hard work that has led us up to this point in time: ”It was an emotional but necessary decision, to change something that has been associated with Elodie Details from the very beginning. I look at the Crown Logo and I’m immediately taken back to all those late nights with hard work. But just like my kids, Elodie Details keeps growing, and is now ready to take on a new and more mature shape and form. It’s an amazing journey to be part of.” The new look will reflect a brand that speaks to the conscious and modern parent that appreciates good design in every detail. NOW LIVE! The new look went live at the same time as the Autumn / Winter 19 collection launched in stores worldwide on August 22nd. We are now beyond excited and curious to see the reactions from our consumers. While collecting your feedback, we will continue to prepare for an autumn and winter that will go down in history - full of activities and exciting news. Follow us on social media for inspiration or sign up to our newsletter to make sure you get the latest news first! _______________________________________ And remember while we launch a new logotype and website, the company’s vision — to make life with children even more beautiful — remains the same.

  • Marta Logina

Marta Logina | Elodie Details - 15 Maj, 2019  Marta Logina is one of those people who’s been on our Instagram-radar for a long time. We can always tell immediately that it’s one of her photos just by the style and lively compositions. She has that rare ability to capture movement and beauty in everyday situations. We wanted to get to know Marta a little closer and asked her a few questions about life and her inspirations. Who is Marta Logina? Marta is wife to Raimonds and mum to 3 girls. Together they live in a beautiful country called Latvia. She spends her days home-schooling, cooking, cleaning, exploring nature with her girls and taking photos to make memories. What or who inspires you? My biggest inspiration are my girls. I love to watch how they live out their childhood. They are so girly and feminine. In spring and summer time, there is no day without flowers that they bring inside the house. They aren’t afraid to get dirty in the garden, to bring snails inside or get wet in the rain. They know all the birds in our garden and can tell their names by their songs. And I just sit and watch them. That inspires me most.   Tell us about your family. I always keep saying - I am so lucky to have Raiminds as my husband. He is the most caring, supportive person I know. It is so easy to love him. Amēlija is the oldest daughter (7) She is really responsible and clever. Naomija - she loves to dream, and nature fits her so well. Soon she will be 5. And then - Matilda. Oh, she is the most joyful one! What is the best thing about being a mom? I always say, that being a mom is really hard thing to do, because you need to work on yourself, your attitude and character. But at the same time, it’s the most beautiful and joyful thing in the world, because of unending love you get and receive. Describe a perfect Sunday with your family? Making pancakes together and setting breakfast table with a lot of flowers outside in the garden. Bird songs and girl laughter’s would be our music. Then we would go to church, sing a lot of songs and thank God for everything He has done. There we would meet our friends and family. And at the evening we would take our dinner with us to the other side of the airport. Eat a picnic while watching planes arriving or going to different places. At the end of the day there would be dad’s creative fairy tale and good night sleep for all of us. For more inspiration follow Marta on Instagram @marta.logina

  • Unicorn Rain

Unicorn Rain | Elodie Details - 7 march, 2019 Unicorns and rainbows go together, everyone knows that. Well, all children know that for sure. So how do children put things and ideas in to painting? They usually start with their favourite colour and then just keep adding on. More is more! When we created this print we started the same way and then kept adding colour after colour to an aquarelle rainbow. Then the lines began flowing together and almost by mistake we came up with something that looked like rain. The result was surprisingly compelling. • Behind the scenes

Behind the scenes | Elodie Details -  31 Jan, 2019   A new season is upon us and we are getting ready to launch our highly awaited 2019 spring collection. To get the excitement going and give you a little sneak peek of what’s to come, we sat down with our founder and creative director Linda Sätterström to talk about the upcoming season and collection.   TRENDS 2019, What are the biggest trends this upcoming season and what has inspired you the most? We’ll be seeing a lot of free flowing colours this spring I believe. Rainbows and prisms that blend together in aquarelle styles. I’ve gathered inspiration from that trend in the new collection, where you’ll be seeing a lot more colour than usual. My inspiration in general has been atelier work and the naive way in which children create things. That probably comes through as well. Hopefully in a good way.  COLOUR SCHEME, What are the colour trends this spring and what would you say will be the it-colour?            There’s a strong trend going on where many different blushed tones are mixed together. We’ll be using rusty brown, pink and plum tones highlighted by an amazing golden yellow that we’ve worked in on a lot of places. I believe that yellow will be the it-colour for spring. You’ll be needing a yellow blanket! Preferably one that can be upcycled as a scarf. TRANSITIONING STYLES, What looks from last season do we take with us into spring and summer?                            The botanical theme will continue. We’re bringing the AW18 style “Midnight Bells” over on a lot of items, like a Stockholm Stroller and an amazing new frill Baby Bib. Since it’s comprised from our base colours it will match beautifully with the SS19-collection and all the aquarelle patterns it will bring.

  • TINA VEGA WILSON

TINA VEGA WILSON | Elodie Details - 6th january, 2019 Elodie Details commitment to sustainability is tightly linked to our creative nature and DIY-heritage. We obviously work to ensure that our production methods and materials have as little environmental impact as possible, but what we are really passionate about are initiatives like Upcycling and Buy Less. A real source of inspiration here is Tina Vega Wilson. We spoke about what sustainability means to her, and how you can go about creating your own “slow lifestyle”. - Who is Tina Vega-Wilson? I’m a nature loving mom of 3 addicted to all things creative and beautiful living in the countryside of Lower Austria about 1 hour from Vienna. I’m the creator, writer and photographer behind the Blog “titantinas ideen” which is focused on family life, sustainability and DIY/Upcycling. - What inspires you? There are so many ways to get inspired. First, the unique beauty of nature, where we spend the major part of our leisure time, has played a big role in my life since my daughter was born 9 years ago. I try to see the beauty that lies in the details, so I have always wanted to make an effort in keeping it simple. I get inspired by so many different things that surround us, like a nice wildflower at the side of the path which instantly makes me think of working on a new embroidery project or getting crafty with the kids by nature DIYs which I love the most, as well as upcycling old garments. On the other hand, I also love to peek through my Pinterest feed, so digital media also has a great impact on my creativity. - How did you first get into the slow lifestyle & sustainable fashion After a tough and challenging phase in my life I realized I had to make a change. I had been pushing myself forward constantly but then I reached a point which made me think and review what happened and what exactly led to this state of exhaustion. For me, the idea of reduction, not only mentally but also physically, and the idea of trying to live more consciously came closer. I first got into sustainable fashion later on when my third child was born. I realized that a major part of the baby clothes of my second son were in a miserable state, due to low quality. This was the reason why I tried something new, and I decided to invest in high quality organic pieces that would last for a lifetime.  - What is your best tip for parents wanting to live more sustainable?Try to start with an idea you can put into practice easily and without too much effort, for example buying less clothes, recycle the old ones instead or even shop them second hand. Shop small and local. Using reusable glass containers or mason jars instead of plastic storages is an easy way to start living a sustainable life.  Keep in mind that you can do that on a low budget as well. You don’t need to invest in pricey pieces because you can get creative all by yourself, and the best part, kids love to be a part of it!  -Describe how you would spend the perfect Sunday.Sundays are for family trips! We would probably explore nature with our old VW van! Depending on the season, we love to have a picnic in the wilderness, either in the woods, the vineyards or we go out to see new sites as well. Nothing more relaxing than nature, it’s adventurous and chilled at the same time when we just go outside, find a beautiful spot for a rest, sling the big hammock and explore nature. You can follow Tina on @titantinas_ideen or visit her blog here to get more peaks of her lifestyle, and hopefully get inspired.

  • THE STORY

THE STORY | Elodie Details - Valleys of Himalaya 6 sep, 2018 It’s now been a week since the release of the new autumn collection, and reactions so far have been overwhelmingly positive. We sat down with founder and Creative Director Linda Sätterström to learn a bit more about how this collection was created. Linda, what was your starting point for this collection? When I started planning for it, my basic idea was that I wanted to create something a bit different from what we usually do. You know, kind of throw the rules out the window and just create. I wanted a collection with a lot of patterns where you felt compelled to mix and use them together, layer upon layer, without them necessarily “matching”. And I guess I wanted to move away from the world of pastels where we’ve been living for a while now.  So you started looking for inspiration? Yes, and it took a while before I discovered the folk art and crafts of Tibet, where this approach seems to have been used since forever. There are patterns on everything! And they use layers upon layers of different colours, patterns and materials. Brass, gold, leather, fur - I just fell completely in love with it and felt I wanted to incorporate this aesthetic in our collection. Are the prints authentically Tibetan then?  No, you couldn’t say that. I think it would be difficult to apply them directly to baby accessories. My team and I brought the inspiration with us down to Milan, where we spent a few days in the fashion district trying to figure out how to adapt that Himalayan feel to our western audience. We found a lot of inspiration in ways of applying it, especially in an art exhibit in the Rossana Orlandi gallery.  Around town there where scarves everywhere, and we realized we could make our blanket prints in “scarves-patterns”, which was really fun to do. And monkeys, monkeys everywhere. Perfect since there are indeed monkeys in Nepal and Tibet, and since a cheeky little monkey is a great way to introduce the more playful feel we always try to keep in our collections. So Playful Pepe became sort of the figure head for this collection. Also, the fur trend from 2017 was obviously still going strong, so developing Not FUReal as part of the collection was a given. The faux fur Stroller Bag is quite unique, and unique stuff is always fun to create. In fact, I think this collection is the most fun I’ve ever had developing.  Was it all fun, or where there any difficult challenges? Not really, the only hard part was not going overboard and creating too much. When your approach is that anything goes, and everything can work well together, then you end up with a lot of ideas and only so many of them can be realized. So, a lot of fully developed prints had to be thrown out.  Finally, any advice on how to make this collection work best for your customers? Well, as I’ve said, this collection is all about layer on layer. Try the different prints together in various set ups. And don’t be afraid to add colours that “shouldn’t work” because, you know, they probably will. Put a lime green scarve on, or a maybe a pair of yellow leg warmers? Make it fun! Being fun is always trendy.

Gardening Weeks | Elodie Details - - Gardening with Kids2nd of may, 2018 Children are curious by nature. They like to learn by doing and they love to play in the dirt. So, what could be better this time of year than introducing them to gardening. Imagine going out to pick your own vegetables or eating strawberries straight from the …vine?  Strawberries grow on vines…right? We’re no gardening masters to be honest. But don’t worry!  You don’t need to have the greenest thumb in the world for this to work. Here are a few tricks you can use to get your kids enthusiastic about even a modest little project. First things first. While it’s a convenient shortcut to buy starters, your children will learn so much more by seeing the growing process as it begins, from seed. The care given to sprouting seeds are a valuable part of the gardening experience. Some of you may remeber setting seeds in egg or milk cartons cut in half. How fascinatingly simple and fun it was. This is the beginning and will quite literally set the seed to your garden.  Second of all, give them Serious Tools! Cheap plastic child’s gardening tools are the worse! They break easily and frustrate the user. Making it hard(er) to motivate a new little gardener. If you have trouble finding good tools for kids you can easily saw the handle shorter on many common gardening tools. Thirdly, it is okay to cheat a Little. Depending on the age of the child, you may need to help out a little ‘behind the scenes’. Go out in the evening to pick a few slugs off the lettuce, or be the one to run out and move the sprinkler. Remember that they don’t have to know about every little help you offer: the child’s ‘ownership’ of the plot is the main thing. If you get questions just blame the garden fairy… or perhaps a helpful garden gnome? Last, but not least! Engage them through the entire process, from seed to table. Children learn better when they understand the context of their activity. Besides planting and nurturing their garden, be sure they alone do the harvesting and preparation of their first crop for the table, no matter how modest the offering. Picking strawberry’s to serve up with scoops of ice cream for example! Or radishes in a salad.   Get Started Here are three simple but very different crops you should consider starting with:   1. Sunflowers A must for a child’s garden, plant just one or two, since they take a lot of room. Sunflowers will sprout in one week, become a small seedling in two weeks, and should be 2′ tall in a month. This if anything will be awe-inspiring and teach any child about the power of growing things. In eight weeks, the buds will flower revealing hundreds of seed kernels. They will dry naturally in the late summer sun and their seeds can be roasted for snacks. Remember to save a few for next summers’ planting. 2. Carrots Carrot seeds can be sown directly into soil and prefer cooler temperatures. They can be slow to germinate, so be patient. Carrots will mature in about 60 days. The soil should be free of rocks and easy for the carrot to grow ‘down’. Keep well-watered and thin to every 3″ because crowding will produce foliage but no root. Smaller varieties are recommended, as they’re easier to grow and more fun for your kids to eat. 3. Strawberries: Homegrown strawberries are full of flavour and freshness. They are perfect for growing in the garden or in containers, especially if you've got children! They'll quickly find that strawberries are one of the easiest and most rewarding plants to grow. There are various choices to make when growing strawberries so choose according to what works best for you and the space you have available. Tip! Upcycle the Sandbox We do love upcycling ideas and here’s one for your garden. If your children have grown past their sandbox years, consider converting the old sandbox to a garden bed. Of course, a productive garden bed should preferably be in good sunlight so it may be necessary to relocate the sandbox if conditions are not ideal.

We suggest doing this on the weekend when you have a little extra time, and to include your child in the selection process. Collect all of the outfit components (clothing, under garments, socks, and accessories) and organize them by day using StyleMyWeek™ - our pretty little pouches for stress free mornings. These 100% Organic Cotton Pouches feature smart details such as a hanging loop and a drawstring to close it up. And printed on them are cute little symbols, along with the day of the week. • Buy Less

Buy Less | Elodie Details - – Upcycling as a way of reaching sustainability  April 12th, 2018 Helping to create a sustainable society is vital for many reasons. Every ambitious company today has a philosophy and policy they adhere to. For a company like Elodie Details, children are our future quite literally, and we spoke with founder and creative director Linda Sätterström about her ideas and ambitions on this subject. - What does sustainability mean at Elodie Details? Like most other companies these days we do work to make sure that as many products as possible are OEKO-TEX certified and we use GOTS-certified cotton whenever we can. But the sustainability aspect we are most passionate about can be summarized with “buy less”. Any time a product gets replaced because it’s used up, it has instantly doubled its environmental impact. So, in our opinion the most effective way of reducing your impact is to buy fewer products. - And what does Elodie Details as a company do to support that aspect? Well, at the heart of it is obviously high-quality products that you should be able to pass down to younger siblings, family or friends. The life expectancy of most of our products is a lot longer than many competing brands. But with a bit of the creative thinking there are other fun ways to support the “Buy Less” initiative. This is where terms like multi-use and upcycling come in to play. I’m constantly looking for ways that our product can get a second life once the toddler years are over. Like re-using your organizer as a make-up bag, or the Play Mat in any other room of the house. This is why we design Diaper Bags that work equally well as a laptop-bag, weekend-bag or gym-bag – both style-wise and function-wise. This ambition is also part of why we often choose to apply more grown up aesthetics to products that have traditionally been designed with a bit more childish motives. You’ll probably be more likely to upcycle a blanket in to a pillow case if you as a parent enjoy the print of the blanket. Or use a StoreMyStuff in the living room if it doesn’t have a Disney motif. - How are consumers reacting to this? I’m not sure that many people are aware of our focus on multi-use and upcycling yet, but we are trying to raise awareness. What I do know is that Elodie Details as a brand has a reputation for long lasting products. There are buy-and-sell groups on Facebook in many countries with tens of thousands of members. I’m obviously proud of this. A high second-hand value equals low environmental impact, is one of our in-house mantras. - What’s your advice to me as a consumer to support sustainability? You can and should choose products with the proper certifications of course. But equally important, whenever you’re getting ready to toss something out you should ask yourself – “Can anyone else benefit from this product?” or “What can I make from this?” before putting it in the trash. Not every product can be transformed to new purposes, but with the DIY-attitude that’s at the core of Elodie Details’ business (where it all started with a homemade pacifier clip), it’s a fun and rewarding challenge to see how far we can take it. You can turn a Pearl Velvet Blanket in to a soft and comfortable pillow case. Our Nesting Candle, once used up, becomes a very pretty flower pot or crayon holder. A retired Muslin Blanket is seriously the best window cleaning rag there is. The list goes on and we want to make it longer. So, I’m challenging both my team and our customers to contribute with their ideas. We’re going to start regularly posting little DIY-guides on how to upcycle or re-purpose our products in to something new. Be on the look-out for #EDupcycling on social media!

  • Preparing for Parenthood

Preparing for Parenthood | Elodie Details - - a round table discussion  22th of March, 2018 What goes on in the mind of a parent to be? Emotionally, nothing can completely prepare you for becoming a parent. Every person’s situation and experience is unique. But gear wise you can and should prepare. Strollers, car seats, playpens, swings, bouncy chairs, play mats, sleep hammocks, teething rings, bibs, burp cloths...babies seemingly need a ton of accoutrements. But what are the key things to consider even before the baby is born? We invited lifestyle bloggers and Instagram profiles Amanda Panahi, Anja Forsnor, Emily Ödmark och Trude Falch Belland for a discussion on their experiences on this subject.  Over a nice breakfast we talked about the kind of thoughts and expectations they had during their first pregnancies. What purchases did they make ahead of time, what do they wish they hadn’t bought, and what where they happy that they did buy? The Pram or Stroller was uniformly the first thing brought up, but the discussion quickly veered in new directions. “I bought so many dummies and bottles ahead of time, and then it turned out my daughter didn’t take to any of them”, Amanda Panahi tells, adding that they are in fact being used now, but by her daughter’s dolls. Anja Forsnor agreed saying that she “bought both a dummy and a dummy clip for my daughter Lily. It turned out the rubber ring of the clip was a lot more interesting to chew on than the actual dummy”. Pacifiers seemed to be a lot less significant than imagined before birth. “At least don’t buy a lot of the same. Get one and see if your child is interested or not. If they don’t, then buy and try another model”, Emily Ödmark concluded to the agreement of everyone. Soothers, dummies and pacifiers can be great, but it is far from certain your kid will take them. On the other end of the spectrum we, to our surprise, found blankets. “I had no idea the amount of blankets and towels we’d need once the baby had come”, Amanda says. “Now we seem to be using one everywhere and all the time”. Anja was quick to agree saying that thin blankets in particular was very useful. “We went on a trip to Thailand when Lily was little and use thin blankets both as towels and sun protection. It’s now my definite go-to present for new parents” Wash Cloths and a Changing Bag where other investments they where all happy that they’d made. Although Anja added that she originally didn’t need an actual changing bag. “I just had a small bag that I filled with nappies and wet wipes”. But after a short while that became insufficient and she had to get a larger one. The general conclusion reached in the lively discussion was that the most important thing to focus on preparing are hygiene related items. You’ll quickly realize that’s where you need more than you’d imagined. Clean bodies, towels and wash cloths where in short supply the in first weeks. So, setting up a well-equipped changing station is good advice, and so is making sure you have a portable version of it (unless you want to spend months not leaving the house). A functional and large enough changing bag with a changing mat solves that.  To round off the discussions we asked each mother to pick out the three items from our assortment they’d put on their own pre-birth wish list, with the wonderful power of hindsight. Here are their picks; AMANDA PANAHI The fashion forward Stockholm mom that’s not afraid to share both the joys and burdens as a parent. • Becoming a Parent

Becoming a Parent | Elodie Details - What’s it like becoming a parent? 15th of february, 2018 There are as many answers to that question as there are parents of course. Dr. Cox on the show SCRUBS said it’s like “having a dog that slowly learns how to talk…” Whereas others are a bit more poetic in their description of becoming a parent. Try a google search for “poems about becoming a parent” and if you’re in the right mood you can be sitting there all teary eyed for a couple of hours. No matter how you approach it, we at Elodie Details strongly recommend to try and remember who YOU are, or used to be, in the process. Don’t give up your love for good design for instance, because you don’t have to. Treat yourself to things that you like and keep surrounding yourself with pretty objects, same as you (probably) always have. They can be a help on days when there has been no sleep and there is no sleep coming. (because we’re not going to lie, there will be those days). We invited some of our favourite new mothers to a round table discussion on the subject of becoming a parent. Their expectations compared to the actual experiences. The results where interesting and more from that will follow here in the weeks to come. But one thing they all agreed on is that setting up a nice changing table before the baby arrives is a good idea. So allow us to give a few pointers, and to recommend some of or own favourite items. When you're setting up your baby's nursery, organizing the changing table probably seems like an obvious task — diapers, wipes, a comfy spot for the little one — right? As it turns out, babies generally don't enjoy the process of diapers being taken on and off, and squirming and crying can make mom or dad’s mission a bit more complicated than expected. Here are our must haves for creating an efficient and organized space to ensure a pleasant (or, pleasant enough) changing experience for all. 1) Keep your little one's hands busy with a handheld toy like Blinkie Bo 2) Your changing pad cover is likely to get soiled (trust us), so make sure that you have an extra one to swap out when it's time to hit the laundry. Our Changing Pad covers come in packs of two and are OEKO-TEX certified and stylish as shit! 3) Hand sanitizer! Chances are you won’t be able to set up your changing table next to a sink and soap, so this may prove necessary. 4) A Musical Mobile. Your first instinct is probably to hang a musical mobile above your baby's crib. Putting it (or a second one) above the changing table, however, is a great diversion for an antsy babe! 5) Keep clutter at bay with a Zip & Go where you can stash your essentials. It’s also handy enough to just zip up and put in your bag when it’s time for an outing. 6) A diaper disposal system. A diaper disposal with a tight, secure lid may not be the most glamorous item on your baby registry, but you absolutely must have one within arm's reach of your changing table — trust us! To round things up (and probably have you sold completely on the idea), here’s a pinterest board we’ve set up showcasing our favourites for the changing table. Good luck with your project! (and we don’t just mean the changing table) / Elodie Details

  • Get ready for fun in the sun!

Get ready for fun in the sun! | Elodie Details -  Get ready for fun in the sun! March 8th, 2018 We all need a bit of Sunshine in our lives. But for our youngest ones the emphasis is on "a bit". Keeping their sensitive skin protected is very important. Here are a few useful pointers to help you out. - Use removable mesh window shields to keep direct sunlight from coming in through the windows of your car or invest in UV window film, which can screen almost 100 percent of ultraviolet radiation without reducing visibility. - Take walks early in the morning before 10 AM or after 4 PM and use a stroller with a sun-protective cover. - Dress baby in lightweight clothing that covers the arms and legs. - Choose a wide-brimmed hat or bonnet that protects the baby's face, neck, and ears. A baby who wears a hat during the first few months will get used to having it on. - Doing these things while still looking and feeling cool used to be tricky, but we've developed a long line of smart and stylish product to help you. Our Sun Hats where released last spring and was an instant success. Probably because they offer Sun protection SPF30, while still being OEKO-TEX certified AND incredibly versatile. There are four different ways of folding it to fit your preferred style of the day. We have Stroller Parasols that match our Stockholm Stroller in fabrics, but thanks to their smart multi grip can be used on any stroller. Since it has dual joints it can be positioned in any direction to block the suns rays, regardless of where on the stroller you’ve placed it. No more constant shifting of positions! Plus, they do look adorable. And speaking of the Stockholm Stroller, you haven’t missed that they have an extra extendable canopy that shields from the sun more effectively than other strollers. We call it the “Papparazzi Canopy” 😉 And the fabric has sun protection SPF 30. Check out these products and much more on the “Sunshine week” that is now up on our website. Be sure to grab yours now, before spring makes them fly out of stock. Sunny regards / Elodie Details

  • Stroller Week

Stroller Week | Elodie Details - Traveling with a toddler February 22, 2018 Traveling with toddlers is a fun and rewarding experience, if you remember to put your worries away before leaving. Remember that, as long as your kid has food, water and a loving embrace nearby, they have all they need. You’ll be surprised how fast the little ones adapt and accept new circumstances and surroundings. They are after all tiny explorers at heart.  Regardless if your transportation is by car, train, boat or plane, a smaller stroller than the one you use at home will probably be needed. Preferably one that folds down quick and easy, doesn’t take up much space when folded, is light weight, handles smoothly on all surfaces (beach, cobble stone or indoors), has a storage compartment (shopping is essential on vacations), and has full sleeping position (you’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors). Can all those features be combined in one stroller? Probably not, but you can come close. So if you’re looking to get one, try figuring out what features you don’t actually find essential. Our Stockholm Stroller has most of these advantages, plus the neat “Papparazzi-canopy” that creates a shielded sleeping environment and additional sun protection. It has larger wheels than most other strollers, giving it a smoother ride on most surfaces. The one-hand grip makes it very easy to fold, and we include a specially adapted traveling bag for easy check in at the airport. All that is great, but what really sets it apart is it’s style and attention to little details such as the leather handle bars. Vacations are all about pampering yourselves and feeling good. Traveling in style is a good way to start. Happy travels!

  • Decorating Kids Spaces

Decorating Kids Spaces | Elodie Details - Decorating kids spaces – thoughts and ideas from Elodie Details Elodie Details’ HOME assortment has grown steadily since we introduced it some 5 years ago, especially in the last two seasons. We’re happy that you, our fans and consumers around the world, seem to share our love for well designed everyday items. Every now and then we can introduce a little innovation as well, such as the new “StyleMyWeek” that you can read more about here. Decorating a toddler’s room is always fun. Sometimes you might have just a little closet to work with, sometimes a large and spacious area. Sometimes it’s a room for just one child, sometimes it’s a shared room. Regardless of which, only your imagination sets the limits of what you can do. Themes, patterns and colors are obviously a matter of taste and preference, but here are a few pointers we feel are important. 1. “Floorfillers” Both you and your child will be spending a lot of time on the floor, so make sure you have a mat or rug that makes this pleasant. It can be a thick rugmat or a padded play mat. The important thing is that it is soft, as a few head first collisions with the floor are bound to happen when you’re a little one growing up. 2. “Quick-Pick-Up” Provide a large basket for quick-pick-up and storage. There will sooner or later be hundreds of toys in your house, and to keep them interesting it’s a good idea to circulate maybe 20 at a time. These will at the end of the day be spread out literally all over the floor. Quickly picking them up at the end of the day and just tossing them in the basket is a good way to reduce stress and avoid conflicts. The “quick-pick-up” solution. 3. “The right height”. Around the time your child reaches the first birthday, they will be involved in the complicated practice of learning how to walk. Installing shelves, a table or a bench with the right height (around 40-60 cm) helps them in that training process. A place to build Legos, drive a toy car or just hammer away at. It can get pretty wild, so glass tables are to be avoided 😉 4. “Styling!” Yes, obviously we can’t help but feel this is an aspect you shouldn’t neglect just because it’s a child’s room. Decorating is and should be fun for everyone. Go with a maximum of 3-5 colours that harmonize well with each other. Go to your local paint retailer and pick out the little sample cards they have there or buy little samples of paint to play around with. And while you are there you should pick up the inspirational brochures from the paint manufacturers, as they are usually really great. Cosy Pillows are important. Preferably larger ones in a corner of the room, with books near at hand. If you have shelves or a bookcase for toys, organize them according to theme. Stuffed animals and dolls on one shelve, cars and tractors on another, books on a third and so on. This both makes it look organized for the eye, and helps your child know where to look for a certain favourite. Mount a wooden board with hooks on the wall. Perfect to place out tomorrows outfit, a super hero costume, or that extra special thing your child wants to put on display for all to see. Mount a swing from the ceiling. A time tested way to get kids activated, more needed today than ever before. So keeping it near at hand all year round is very positive. You don’t actually need a big room to do this. Kids have a fantastic ability to adapt to the space provided. Check out IKEAs large selection of swings and similar playthings for inspiration. Last but not least, as a styling tip, buy second hand furniture and renovate them using you 3-5 colour scheme. Much more fun, and much more original. Good luck!

  • Blinkies

Blinkies | Elodie Details - A Blinky doesn’t happen in the blink of an eye14 nov, 2017 For years now we’ve been asked over and over why we don’t have one of those traditional comforters in our assortment. From Korea to Belgium, everyone seems to want one. I’ve personally always found them to be rather silly, and the material seems to always have a rather unpleasantly plastic feel. But after a lot of idea work, brooding and testing back and forth with the help of our fantastically patient manufacturers, we finally managed to produce one in pure cotton. One that we also found to be cute “for real”. Yay! To be honest, we tend to drive our production partners crazy with our constant need for perfection on everything. Thread-quality, softness of padding, needle work and colour nuances, they all need to match the idea we originally had for a product to make it to you, the end consumer. But our partners are patient and creative, just like us. So even if it sometimes takes a while, we usually get what we’re looking for in the end. We’ve named this new creation “Blinkies” for obvious reasons. The character names are Bonnie, Belle and Bo and they arrive now just in time for Christmas, kind of like the three wise men. 😉 Great gifts for any child, from new born to three years old. Season´s Greetings! / Linda

  • Gift Wrapping

Gift Wrapping | Elodie Details - Great gifts and how to wrap them up nicely! Wrapping gifts is something you either find miserably boring, or absolutely LOVE and think of as a fun way of showing of your creativity. OK, maybe there are some in-betweens, but I’m definitely one that loves it, even though it’s not always easy. Not to worry though, I’m here to help. Here are some of my favourite wrapping tips right now;1. Don’t tie ribbons. Paint ribbons! Use water colours or just a plain old magic marker. The fastest and coolest way to do it. 2. Here’s something the young ones will enjoy. Fold down the paper on the short end to form a pointy “nose” (as shown in the photo below) and add eyes. Then glue on sticks, pipe cleaners or whatever to form little ears or horns. Super Cute!3. Wrap presents in wrinkled butter paper or old newspaper. Very vintage, very trendy.4. Tie on piece of ginger bread as an extra treat and to get a christmasy scent5. The easiest and probably most effective tip though is to stick a small twig of Fir or Sprouse under the ribbons for that lovely holiday scent and spirit. And as a rule of thumb of course, no store-bought cards. Regardless of what’s in the gift, it’s the thought that matters, and the card and wrapping is what signals thought. But sure, what’s in the box is important too. I’ve set up a subcategory on our website with some of the item I think make the best presents this year. Check it out! My favourite item right now is our brand new mini Thermos. Just the right size for a child to handle, amazing prints that match our BackPack MINIs, and really high quality. And hey, they are also perfect for bringing just one cup of hot coffee in your hand bag. I guarantee you it will not leak. Good Luck with your Christmas shopping! / Linda

  • Nesting Candle

Nesting Candle | Elodie Details - In the Advent of a Nesting Candle On Sunday we’ll be celebrating advent first. The celebration of this tradition differs a lot around the Christian world. Many places have an advent calendar that kids enjoy, in some places they give up certain foods, but in Sweden our most observed tradition is the lighting of four candles, one for each Sunday in December. As our corner of the world becomes darker than most during winter it’s easy to understand why. We cherish and celebrate the light up here more than anything else. And candles have an almost magical way of easing some of the inevitable stress that the Christmas season brings. We are therefore delighted (get it?) to present you with a little mid-season-release in the form of a candle. But not just any candle. A candle that we’ve designed and developed especially for parents, hence the name “Nesting Candle”. Nesting being that short period of calming down and adjusting to a new phase of life with a baby. Or in expectation of that, kind of like advent 😉 To create a “signature scent” that matched our brand and our fans, we mixed essential oils where calming hints of lily blossoms and vanilla harmonize with the deeper notes of earthy amber and sandalwood. It’s been praised by many experts as something very distinct and we’re proud to now have a scent we can call our own. We’ve named it “Lullaby”. We’re even more proud of the fact that it is made not from traditional paraffin but from 100% natural soy wax, hand poured and created in Sweden. Soy wax is a much healthier alternative as it releases hardly any soot at all to the air. All you get is that wonderful scent, and hopefully the feeling of serenity it can bring. So light up your candles and cosy on down in the couch. Christmas is coming…

  • Diaperbags - FashionLook

Diaperbags - FashionLook | Elodie Details - Diapers are for babies, Bags are for moms! Why do we need a specific bag designed to carry around Diapers? That’s a question I’ve always wondered about, and one that I thought a lot about during my kids diaper years. And to be honest, I don’t think we do. What we do need during those years is a bag that you can conveniently hang from the stroller handle bars, and that can fit most or all of what you need for a quick diaper change. Sure, plenty of inside compartments and robust durability can be nice features during these years as well. But is that really so much different from the “regular” hand bags all moms have plenty of? Not really. To me an equally important aspect is feeling good about how you look carrying it. That kind of thinking has inspired me during the design and development of all our (so called) Diaper Bags. Not one of them should be limited to use as “just a diaper bag” during the short years where that’s what you’ll mainly be carrying. It’s a lot more fun investing in high quality when you know there are multiple uses for your purchase. Plus, your PPU (price per usage) will be much, much lower. Who doesn’t love that? Every one of our Diaper Bags works equally well as a work bag for your laptop, weekend bag for a short get away, or sport bag when going to the gym. Or even your “night on the town” bag if you ask me. They are, and should be, that good looking. And hey, the changing pad in them can just as easily be used as your seat cushion when your outdoors. The thermo-pockets in them can just as easily keep your coke cold as your formula warm. Multi-purpose people, it’s the name of the game! And guess why we make the details in genuine leather? That’s right, it ages much nicer, and we don’t want you to let the bag go when diaper changing days are over. What a waste that would be! I know for a fact that most of you do hang on to it. So, I have a favour to ask of you. If you snap a picture of yourself using one of our Diaper Bags for something completely “not diapery”, please tag it with #EDbag and help us spread the gospel of #upcycling and #multi-use. With Love / Linda

  • Leather Week - Tärnsjö Tannery

Leather Week - Tärnsjö Tannery | Elodie Details - Authentic, pure craftmanship and sustainable methods. 9 nov, 2017 Near the city of Uppsala, and about 130 kilometres from the Elodie headquarters in Stockholm, you can find the small rural township of Tärnsjö. Around 1200 people live here among the lakes, forests and grazing pastures, and about 50 of them are employed by the unique tannery that’s been around in the same place for nearly 150 years. Working in a business that over the years has been more and more industrialized, Tärnsjö have maintained many aspects of the authentic craftsmanship that goes in to producing quality leather works. In 1993 they even started their own school to educate new tanners and saddle makers, and to preserve as many of the time-tested methods of the craft as possible. Today they are one of only three tanneries still active in Sweden. The Tärnsjö tannery is among the remaining 5% of tanning houses worldwide who still employ the centuries old tradition of vegetable tanning, where water and natural bark extracts are used in the process of curating and refining hides in to leather. Their many environmental initiatives have earned them an OCS-certificate, Organic Content Standard. Tärnsjö is the only tannery in the world with this certificate. Another important aspect of their production method is that they only use hides that are bi-products from local meat production. This means that no animals are raised solely for their hides, and it also enables Tärnsjö to trace every single leather product back to the farm where the animal was bred. Usually a farm very nearby. In 2015 we at Elodie visited Tärnsjö and fell in love, not only with the beautiful surroundings, but even more so in the proud way they hold on to authenticity, pure craftsmanship and sustainable methods. Their high aspirations have inspired not only us but countless other companies around the world to move in the same direction.   Tärnsjö started production of hand sewn leather pacifier clips for Elodie Details’ premium segment “Exclusive Collection” in early 2015. • What is Merino Wool?

What is Merino Wool? | Elodie Details - Material qualities and benefits As those of you who have followed us for a while know, at Elodie we love head gear. Over the years we’ve made a lot of different Caps, Beanies and SunHats. But until recently we’d never made one in wool. With the cold winters of our Scandinavian heritage, it was about time, and we chose to go with 100% luxurious Merino Wool (guaranteed to be from mulesing free sheep). The ultra-fine fibres of Merino wool insulate and traps your body heat like no other material. Making it ideal for head gear, because as your mother no doubt must have told you, that’s where we lose most heat. So, for cold climate you can find nothing better. Another great feature of Merino wool is its moisture transporting abilities. By something called capillary action, the wool draws moisture away from the skin and out to the surface where it is evaporated. Staying dry is the best way to stay warm. Add to this that Merino wool has anti-bacterial properties that make it feel fresh and clean for a really long time, and you have what must be considered the ideal material for head gear. Some might argue that kids don’t like wool clothing because it’s itchy. But with modern production techniques this is no longer the case. Just to be on the safe side though, we’ve lined ours with a super soft single cotton jersey. As an added bonus, the logo patch on Elodie Details’ wool caps are made with a reflexive material that reflect any light cast on them. A little safety feature that we’re sure many of you living up north will appreciate. We’ve initially made these fine wool caps in three light colour nuances, perfectly matched to the patterns and colour scheme of our 2017 fall collection “Escape the Ordinary” Did you know that the head circumference of a three-year-old is usually the same as an average adult? So, don’t hesitate to get a matching one for yourself. Matching head gear with your kids is always awesome! Stay warm!

  • Would you wear wood?

Would you wear wood? | Elodie Details - Soft and warm on chilly days Do you own a Winter Beanie from Elodie Details? Then you are in fact already wearing a tree. (!)You see, the fabric we’ve developed for this great piece is a mix of 46% Cotton, 46% Modal, and 8% Spandex (for good measure). Modal is a type of fibre made by spinning cellulose extracted from beech trees. So about half of the raw material in our Winter Beanies actually comes from a tree! Modal fabric has some amazing properties that make it perfectly-suited for anything worn next to the skin, and it’s especially wonderful for our little ones. Most importantly, both the breathability and moisture absorbing qualities of modal are better than cotton, meaning that sweat from a hard day of play is transported away from the skin, preventing cool down. Other nice properties are that the fibres do not pill, are very stable and will not rip, and that it is less prone to shrinkage or deformation than 100% cotton. All in all this means our Winter Beanies can be used by many growing kids, giving them a very low PPU (price per usage). And buying less is a wonderful way to be kind to mother nature. We update prints and colours each season, but the fabric and the signature metallic stripe remains the same. The Winter Beanies has become one of our most popular products in recent years, in many different places all over the world. It’s also one of the most featured under the hashtag #elodiedetails, which is easy to understand with all the close ups of cute kids you get. It’s a photogenic product! With that in mind we’ll be setting up a little contest soon on Facebook and Instagram, where we’d like to see Winter Beanie photos from places all over the world. Stay tuned for that! And stay warm!

  • The Evolution of a Stroller Bag

The Evolution of a Stroller Bag | Elodie Details - My pride and joy! There’s probably no other product in Elodie Details’ range that I am more proud of. The journey that our Stroller Bags have made has been astounding, especially from my personal perspective. Did you know that the first 50 or so were sewn by me, at my kitchen table back in 2006? It was a camouflage version with pink or blue lining, very trendy at the time. Pretty crazy to think about that now, when every day I can see our Stroller Bags in beautiful Instagram posts from all over the world. Since that first little kitchen batch we’ve never stopped improving on them. On each of the 11 yearly launches we’ve made so far, we’ve added new features, better materials, improved details or increased quality. In my expert opinion, they are without a doubt the most well developed on the market today. We’ve made them Oeko-Tex certified to guarantee none of the components used contain any hazardous substances. We’ve developed a combination of panel sewing and carefully selected genuine fake down padding that makes them machine washable not just once, but many times over. And most recently, we’ve been able to add RUDOLF Bionic Finish® - a surface coating technique that mimic the way nature makes things water resistant, and doesn’t require any PVC, phthalates or other potentially harmful substances. Very high tech, and something we’re very proud of. I sometimes get asked by customers if they should go for our classic model, or the light weight down version. They are quite similar, as the warming properties are pretty much the same and they withstand wind and snow equally well. What sets the down version apart is that it is more light weight, can be stored in a smaller pouch and is lined with a thinner microjersey fabric. So, my advice is usually to go with your gut feeling. What does your eye and heart tell you?I’m also really happy about second-hand value our Stroller Bags have. It is a stated ambition that none of our stroller bags should be used for less than three children. And when you look at what five-year-old Elodie Details Stroller Bags are being sold for second hand these days, I feel we’re pretty close to reaching that goal. I want all our products to have a low PPU (price per usage), and the Stroller Bag is one of our shining stars in that ambition. More use out of every product means fewer produced and thereby less environmental impact. It requires high quality, and high quality requires lots of development. With the countless hours of effort I myself have put in to our Stroller Bags’ style, quality and design, it’s easy to become emotionally invested. They still manage to stir up my emotions quite often. Whether it’s happiness when they win best-in-test awards, pride in seeing them used all over the world, or frustration when our brilliant manufacturer can’t find that exact shade of faux fur lining I wanted. They are, and will remain, my pride and joy. / Linda (proud inventor of the world’s finest stroller bag) #PPU #StrollerBag #Footmuff #Pride

  • Pearl Velvet Blanket

Pearl Velvet Blanket | Elodie Details - What is Pearl Velvet? 10 years ago today we got a call from Wang Li, one of our great merchandisers in China. She was noticeably excited and taking fast about a new material she wanted to show us. We’d told her we were looking to develop a baby blanket for our customers that was easy in maintenance but more durable than the fleece or velour materials that dominated the market back then. Wang Li believed she had found what we were looking for, so a colleague and I went down to visit her and see for ourselves. We looked at a lot of different weights and thicknesses of this new material, or new weaving technique to be exact, and did certainly love the soft and cuddly hand feeling it had. But what really convinced us was the fact that pilling just does not occur on this material. Plus, it seemed to just get softer and lusher with each wash. So compared to the existing fabrics at the time, it had an incredibly long life cycle. Buying one blanket to use for three children rather than three blankets for one child is the most sustainable idea we know. So this was a product we really needed. Having convinced ourselves that we could put our own signature prints on the fabrics, we placed an order for three styles and went back home. Even though this was 10 years ago, I still see some of these first blankets in use today. Do you own one of these vintage beauties? Send a picture, I’d love to see them. Over the years we’ve made improvements such as making it double layered and adding a cotton binding. But the fabric itself remains the same. We update with new styles each season and maintain a few base colours in our assortment over time. It’s one of those products that I can almost guarantee will be part of our range forever. I love it that much. So, what about the name? Well, since it was a brand-new invention when we picked it up, we had to figure something out. We chose velvet as that is in fact the weave technique used, and “Pearl” refers to the tiny knot that is made on the base of the fibre loops forming the velvet. This little knot holds the secret to its many great qualities. It keeps the fabric from tearing and also curls the fibres a bit which is what gives the fluffy hand feeling. We have this little “pearl” to thank for a truly great product. But most of all I guess we have Wang Li to thank. So, from me, the entire ED team, and from countless babies and toddlers I know – Thank you Wang Li for picking up the phone that day and convincing us you’d found a pearl. / Linda, Founder and Creative Director

  • Changing bags

Changing bags | Elodie Details - Wellbeing at the gym Close to where I live there’s a gym. A very well-equipped gym actually. There are plenty of work out machines, classes to take in everything from mindfulness to boxersize, modern locker rooms and a great big sauna. But best of all – they offer a baby-sitting service. If someone had told my mom back in the seventies that when her grandchildren are born, their mother could hand them off to trained professional – at the GYM!  She would have smiled at the idea, but she wouldn’t have believed it. But times change and nowadays any gym that wants parents as clients pretty much needs to offer child care. It’s become the norm, and that’s a step in the right direction if you ask me.  As I’m sure many of you know, physical exercise is one of the best ways of countering depression, a condition that unfortunately befalls a lot of mothers in the months following child birth. That’s why I went to the gym. Well at least I kept telling myself that was the reason. In all honesty, the main reasons where probably just the chance to take a long and uninterrupted shower, look myself in the mirror and just be with myself for a little while. But I didn’t tell anyone that 😉. This week we’re putting the spotlight on our new diaper bag models, developed in a more sporty style than before, and at a lower price point. They are great on any occasion, but particularly so when your off to the gym with your little one. It holds everything you need as a parent, but remember to pack what YOU need as well. And remember to take care of YOU, as often as possible and in any way that you can. Stay healthy! /Linda Sätterström, Founder & Creative Director
