Norwegian model and photographer Rune Erlend lives in Helsinki with his wife and soon-to-be mother Johanna Sofia. Together they create beautiful portraits of preparing for parenthood on their much-appreciated Instagram channels. In timing with Scandinavian Father’s Day, we sat down with Rune to get his views on becoming a father.
Your little one is expected any day now, how are you preparing for fatherhood?
That’s a good question. Who you are as a dad is very individual, and I don’t think that you can really prepare for that in advance. As this is our firstborn, we are right now trying to get everything into place, from the baby room to clothes and picking out a stroller, the list goes on. It would probably be a good idea to pick up a parenting book, but I haven’t gotten to that yet.
What was your first thought when you found out that you were going to be a dad?
I was very happy, as we have been wanting to have a baby for a little while now.
What are you most excited about?
I know that this can sound bad, as you should cherish every moment, but I can’t wait for him (yes, it’s a boy!) to start crawling and walking. And it will be so much fun when we can play sports together.
Is there something from your own childhood that you will try to bring into your newly started family?
I think that all of us pick up small traits from our parents and things they taught us growing up. There's nothing special that comes to mind, but I think it's subconscious.
What are your favourite products from Elodie?
My favourite must be Fluffy Frank – what a cute little guy!
